Biometrics are forever for Bond
Although biometrics and fingerprint scanning systems are now becoming commonplace when it comes to security solutions for homes, hospitals and businesses, they were not so popular in the 1970s.
However, James Bond was ahead of the times and a fingerprint recognition device has been listed on Blorge's list of the best Bond gadgets featured in the films.
According to the website, the biometric scanner was used against Bond in 1971's Diamonds Are Forever and it was still new technology at the time.
Similarly, in Tomorrow Never Dies there was also a mobile phone which featured a fingerprint recognition feature, as well as a stun gun, lock pick and a remote control for a car.
Away from Hollywood, fingerprint scanners could soon be made available to the police force so they can conduct on-the-spot identity checks when patrolling the streets.
